Very rare tomesode with blue birds. A light to medium weight crepe silk decorated with yuzen dyeing techique and small touches of silk embroidery. On the front panels each bird’s head and throat is embroidered using satin stitch method. Some of the leaves are accented with fine gold threads at their edges and a small grouping of flowers are decorated with very small French knots. Vintage black silk woman's short jacket with playful shi-shi lions woven with gold and red lacquered threads. Though a formal jacket, this haori also looks great worn casually with a pair of slacks or jeans. In excellent condition, it dates late Showa.

An unusual large Japanese bowl featuring three light purple elephants in ceremonial attire resting among many flowers. The bowl is excellent condition, except for some wear to the gold around the rim. Measures 11.5 inches in diameter. Dates late Edo, late 1840's.

19th C Japanese Imari porcelain dish featuring 2 shishi lion dogs. In very good condition, no chips, no hairline, etc. Scene in the center has fine gold highlights showing no wear. Measures 9" diameter x 2" deep.

An old Japanese saki storage bottle in good condition except for some manufacturing flaws which only add to its character and charm. They include firing cracks on the rim, a spot where it touched another bottle in the kiln, and some loss at the base which may have also happened during firing. These type of saki bottles were used as everyday ware by Japanese people and were not made for export. Desired by collectors they also make excellent vases...

A lovely Japanese painting on paper of two men observing the moon. This scroll was sold on consignment by a Japanese dealer named Sakura. According to Sakura and in his opinion, this painting would date from 1800-1849, and is in fair to good condition. All genuine antique scrolls will show signs of wear and discoloration and in some cases damp staining. The painting appears to be salvaged and remounted at least 20 years ago. The scroll fits into a custom made box...

A fine porcelain Japanese Koyto tea cup with a Japanese macaque or snow monkey. Dated 1956 and signed “Chikusen”, we are attributing it to Chikusen Miura III, 1901-1990. Measures 2.75 inches.

A rare sake-daru (Sake Keg) made of piled woven bamboo in combination with Japanese red lacquered pine. This tsuno-daru has two horn-like staves with inscriptions, a cross piece forming a carrying handle, and a wooden plug that pulls out. This saki barrel dates pre 1920. Sake casks such as this were prepared by sake factories to be used for special ceremonial occasions in the late 19th to the early 20th centuries. In excellent condition, it measures 21” tall and 7” in diameter.

Finely detailed Japanese brown lacquer box measuring 6 inches across and 2.5 inches high. Featuring a shell motif, this octagonal box is in excellent condition. This box is just wonderful and we guarantee you will not be disappointed. Circa 1850.
