This is a very rare dish as it displays the pomegranate fruit in the center well, its seeds being exposed as to suggest the hope of many sons. 5 cranes are symmetrically arranged, 3 on the garden rock, 2 in flight. A beautiful and entirely hand painted mille fleur (Thousand flower) Japanese satsuma bowl of exceptional quality and brightly painted flowers, no two bowls were exactly alike, each is an individual work of art. A framed Japanese woodblock print of children playing by ukiyo-e artist Keisai Eisen (1790-1848) . Oban size print, it is in very good antique condition consistent with age. Dates late Edo.

Rare Japanese silk jacket with a woven scene from an old Edo period tale about a trickster tanooki (also known as raccoon dog or tanuki) and a nobleman or samurai who is holding a pipe. In excellent condition, the black silk is satin silk, fine and smooth.

Circa 1910, Japanese Satsuma covered jar raised on three legs with a foo lion finial on the lid. Heavily gilded on a blue ground fading to green on the bottom. Flower and butterfly motif. Signed on bottom. Measures 12.5 inches high.

Very sweet little circular cloisonne box with a pale yellow ground. The foot is exposed copper. The interior of both the lid and base is a mottled dark green. Some expected pitting to the enamel. Original Japanese woodblock print by Kitao Masanobu (1761 – 1816) from the “Eastern Tune Koyka by Fifty Poets”, date 1786. The color woodblock print depicts an image of a seated warrior with a poem above. Print has toning, spots, and marks throughout, fading to inks, loss of red ink stripes on face, abrasions to lower right corner. Not examined out of frame.

Original Japanese woodblock print by Yoshitoshi (1839-1892) of a Japanese captive insulting the King of Ancient Korea. From the series Kyodo Risshiki (Instructive Biographies) and published by Matsuki Heikichi, it is dated 1885. In excellent condition, it measures 14.75 inches high, 10" across.

Rare blue sharkskin porcelain tea caddy with a bird, flowers, and butterflies. The bird and butterflies are glossy and do not have the sharkskin texture giving this piece a beautiful contrast which was not an easy feat for the artist to achieve. The blue background graduates from light at the bottom to darker shade of light blue at the top. Signed and in excellent condition, it measures 6 inches tall with lid on.

A cheerful Japanese Arita "Imari" bowl with a spotted lion dog looking at a waterfall. This scene is repeated in 3 cartouches surrounding the bowl's exterior. Enameled with vivid palette of colors, it is in very good original condition. No repairs, hairline, etc. Spurious Chinese mark on bottom reads "Greatest Ming Chenghua Make". Measures 7.75 Inches in diameter by 3.75" high.
