Oil on canvas portrait painting by Frank Mason of a US Coast Guard commander. Purchased from a relative of Frank Mason, we were told that it was a family member, but have not been able to verify. We recently had it re-stretched on a new frame. The last photo is the artist at work in his studio. Measures 30" x 34" Frank Herbert Mason (1921 - 2009) was a renowned professor at the Art Students League and a portraitist in the tradition of Rembrandt. He was also known for interior, figure and landscape painting. |
