A charming Japanese Arita porcelain shallow bowl of circular form with raised, lobed rim, decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze gilding. The dish features at the top The Three Friends (pine, prunus and bamboo), the center with a medallion depicting a cormorant, and the bottom a sea turtle over a string of coins (a symbol for wisdom, luck, protection, longevity, and in this case prosperity). In excellent condition with only minor wear to the gold gilt on the rim, it measures 8.5 inches diameter, 1.5" high. Dates Meiji Period (Late 19th Century).
